  • Have you got an extensive hat collection but are desperate for a new pretty headpiece, delicate fascinator or a large feathery hat for summer racing?

Spring clean your wardrobe ready to steal the show this summer at a hat swap evening hosted by Women in Racing.

Next Tuesday (23 April) fashion-savvy racegoers are invited to Oaksey House in Lambourn, Berkshire for a drinks reception followed by a hat auction.

Donated hats will be exchanged for four tokens, with which visitors can bid for exciting new chapeaus. However, hat donations are not compulsory as tokens are available to buy at £10 for four.

A racing fascinatorTwo milliners have been invited to show off their designs and offer advice on the best choices for this season. Rachel Drewer is a Hampshire-based couture milliner whose designs have been captured in Vogue. Aoife Hannon, whose agent will be present, is based in Ireland and one of her hats was worn at the Royal Wedding.

They have both agreed to donate one of their hats to the silent auction, including the one pictured above from Aoife Hannon.

Lizzie Hughes of Lizzie’s Hats and wife of Flat champion jockey Richard, is donating a piece by Vivien Sheriff. As bidding wars ensue, racegoers will be keen to get their hands on one of these three bespoke headpieces.

This informal event, held to raise funds for Women in Racing’s charitable responsibilities, provides plenty of opportunity to acquire a new hat to finish off a perfect racing outfit.

Tickets cost £25 for Women in Racing members and £30 for non-members, and begins at 6:30pm with a drinks reception and canapés.
