Best-selling author and well known animal lover Jilly Cooper has launched the Animals in War Memorial Fund, an initiative to erect a monument in London to the animals which served alongside British and Commonwealth armies in the 20th century.
At a reception to unveil a model of the proposed design for the monument, which will be situated in Park Lane, Jilly accepted donations totalling £20,000 from animal charities.
Administration for the fund is being undertaken by corporate sponsor, Pet Plan.
