1996 15.3hh Palamino

Icon is a stunning home-bred Lusitano/Arab Palomino. He is proving to be extremely versatile and talented in all disciplines.

His competitive career started in 2002 at unaffiliated/riding club level. In 2003 we registered British Eventing and were placed in four out of five Intro’s and three out of five pre novice classes. He proved too talented for me so I passed the ride to Charlotte Keevil to start BSJA and Novice Eventing.

He was performance tested with NASTA last year, which involved being judged on all three disciplines plus conformation and temperament over two days. He achieved Grade 1. He is also part of the AHS Premium Scheme and has Grade I status.

In four British Eventing Novice outings last year he was placed in two, 3rd Brockenhurst, 7th Berkshire, and finished the season with five points. In his first outing this year he won British Eventing JAS on a score of 13.

We bought his sire, Idolo, a cremello Luistano as a three-year-old in Portugal. He is from the famous Veiga line, established some 300 years ago, which is still considered the top stud for the best horses today. His sire, Danubio was supreme champion at the International Lusitano show in Lisbon in 1987. His sire, Zimbro II was supreme champion at the national show in 1984 and was such a good sire that he was put into the book of merit. For this a stallion has to regularly produce stock, which grade above 80%. Both Zimbro II and Danubio graded at 81%.

Icon’s character and temperament is honest and sane, as well as brave. He gives the most amazing ride, being completely responsive and sensitive to the aids, and is always forward going without being strong in anyway.
