Nicolai ‘Nico’ de Boinville (born 14 August 1989) is an English horseracing jockey who competes in National Hunt (jump) racing.

From 2002 to 2007, Nico was educated at Bradfield College in Berkshire, followed by the University of Newcastle. He had initially intended to study politics at Newcastle, but left during his first year, after just six weeks, in order to pursue a career in horseracing.

Nico has always predominantly ridden for multiple champion jump racing trainer Nicky Henderson since starting at his Seven Barrows yard near Lambourn in 2009, the summer after he left university.

Having been a professional jockey for just over a year, Nico won the 2015 Cheltenham Gold Cup riding Coneygree. During his career in the saddle up to and including the 2021 Cheltenham Festival, Nico has ridden 13 winners at this prestigious jump racing meeting.

Nico has so far ridden 31 Grade One winners, more than any other current British jumps jockey.

Shishkin, arguably the best jump racing horse in the UK at the moment, who is trained by Nicky, is one of Nico’s key rides, and this horse is so far unbeaten during his career.
