Racing week: Jockeys await their fate

Ascot racecourse is located in Ascot, Berkshire, and hosts both Flat and National Hunt (jumps) racing meetings.
The most famous meeting at the racecourse is Royal Ascot, which is five days of top-class Flat racing held in June. Other key Flat events include the running of the prestigious King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes in July and British Champions Day in October. Notable Grade One jumps races held at Ascot include the Clarence House Chase, Ascot Chase and Long Walk Hurdle.
The racecourse was founded in 1711 by Queen Anne and is located about 6 miles (10 km) from Windsor Castle. Its current impressive grandstand was completed in 2006.
