Young star to stay in Ireland

  • One of Ireland’s best young grand prix horses, the eight-year-old Zara’s Pride, has been bought by Derry businessman Edmund Simpson.

Zara’s Pride won an international class at Royal Dublin with Peter Smyth, and Edmund Simpson fell in love with her when he saw her finish runner-up in the Eglinton indoor grand prix.

He said: “I’ve bought Zara’s Pride because she’s a wonderful mare and I want to keep her in Ireland. She has exceptional talent and a good future.”

Peter Smyth added: “I’m very grateful to Edward. We’ll be taking her slowly and she may even make a Nations Cup horse in time.”
