Ronnie Massarella, Britain’s long-time show jumping chef d’equipe was honoured with a special award for his outstanding 31-year career at the British Equestrian Writer’s Association annual awards lunch at Olympia today (Friday 15 December).
Britain’s triumphant gold-medal winning Paralympic squad (Lee Pearson, Nicola Tustain, Anne Dunham and Kay Gebbie) were also honoured, with Lee named as the BEWA Equestrian Personality of the Year and team manager Ann Cutcliffe winning the Liz Dudden Trophy for Contributions to Equestrian Sport.
The Vivien Batchelor Trophy for the Most Outstanding Young Rider went to show jumper Lee Williams.
