Northern Ireland International Horse Show qualifier


  • Riders from across Ireland flocked to Mullingar Equestrian Centre for the second 2007 Northern Ireland International Horse Show qualifier on Friday 22 June.

    Current Northern Ireland International Horse Show Amateur Champion Martin Wilson from Ballyclare, County Antrim, claimed his chance to defend his title by winning the amateur class on Database.

    In the pony classes, Max O’Reilly Hyland (pictured) from Brittas Bay, County Wicklow claimed his first Northern Ireland ticket with Lenamore Minnie Metro, when winning the competitive 128AB class in a time of 29.77sec. Shane Kenny from Gorey, County Wexford, proved unbeatable in the 138AB class taking first and second places on My Little Lady and Melview Black Diamond respectively. Shane Connell from Maydon, County Longford, took a narrow victory on Murphy’s Flight over Caoimhe Kenny with Frere Jacques in the 148AB class.

    Elaine Fagan on Nicara, jumped to victory in the 1.10m. In the 1.20m, John Floody dominated by winning on Diamond Chow and taking second place on Syriana. John also triumphed in the 1.30m on Athea Clover Mist, although Conor Drain from County Antrim, was a close second on Shanroe Penny. Conor also qualified on Tripoli in the 1.10m class and was third and sixth on Shanroe Uccello and Tripoli respectively in the 1.20 Young Rider class. This class was won by Aaron Cawley of Ballina, County Mayo, on Wakely’s Some Watt.
