Limbo loves it at Chester


  • Andrew Davies jumped a fantastic round on Limbo totake the £5,000 first prize in the Premier Consulting UK Supreme Championship, the major class at this year’s Chester International show.

    The Cheshire-based Welshman held off the challenge from American star Norman Dello Joio on Peace Train, with Yorkshireman Paul Barker close behind on Blue Chip Quinton.

    Andrew was delighted with Limbo, who has just returned from a successful tour of Calgary, Canada. “He really grew up there and he was brilliant today,” he said.

    Robert Smith’s ride, Mr Springfield, made a successful return after a long break, culminating in victory in the Total Asset Finance Chester Championship.

    In a hot jump-off, the Irish-bred bay flew round in his inimitable style to win from American-based Helen McNaught on Falbella Colour, with Ireland’s Dave Quigley third on Ashdale Spirit.

    The opening Riverside Air Conditioning Championship produced a popular win for Staffordshire-based Alec Trickett, who jumped a wonderful round on Harvey Lee’slittle stallion, What A Business, to beat Jessica Russell and Jimmy Small’s Temple Guess What, who had the only other double clear.
