The All England Polo Club at Hickstead played host to a rather unusual spectacle at last month’s Derby Meeting when international show jumpers William Funnell, Geoff Billington, Shane Breen and William Whitaker tried their hand at a spot of polo.
Assisted by top polo players Sarah Wiseman and Chris Warren, the show jumpers quickly realised just how demanding the sport is and found hitting the ball to be quite a challenge with some spectacularly bad attempts at goal scoring. William Funnell’s team eventually came home with a two-one victory.
