BSJA pony selector Sheila Elstone loses battle with cancer

  • British pony show jumping team selector Sheila Elstone died earlier today following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Mrs Elstone, 68, who was an enthusiastic supporter of the sport, was recognised for her services to show jumping with an award by the British Show Jumping Association (BSJA) last year.

During her years with the BSJA, Mrs Elstone had been a judge, course builder, pony chef d’equipe, area representative for Cheshire and a member of many committees.

Jacky Wood, Chief Executive of The British Show Jumping Association said: “Sheila has made an enormous contribution to our sport and she will be greatly missed for all of this, for her loyalty and as a friend to so many of us within show jumping.”

An obituary will appear in a future issue of Horse & Hound.
