Young showjumper Katie Robertson injured in fall

  • Young showjumper Katie Robertson will be out for up to six weeks after suffering a fall at the Welsh Home Pony International earlier this week (Monday 26 July).

Katie fell from Atlantic Swift while contention in the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) 138cm jump-off.

Atlantic Swift paddled the planks and flipped over onto 13-year-old Katie, leaving her with a broken shoulder, broken collarbone and severe concussion.

Katie, who was part of the gold medal-winning children-on-horses team at the European Championships earlier this month is now recovering at home.

“Her biggest regret is missing out on the Royal International (RIHS) 138cm final at Hickstead yesterday (28 July)” said her mother, Lynne.

“She’ll take a while to recover but she’s desperate to get back into the saddle. I can’t stress enough how important headwear is, there’s no doubt her hat helped save her.

“As a mother it’s extremely hard but everyone was brilliant and so helpful, so thank you to them.”

On a positive note Katie’s double clear earlier in the day earned her a finalist place in the HOYS 138cm in October.
