XL insurance buys Unicorn’s bloodstock team
XL Insurance has strengthened its equine underwriting team with the acquisition of the bloodstock team from London-based Unicorn Underwriting Ltd.
Leading the five-man team, as chief underwriting officer of equine for XL, will be Guy Morrison, who has 20 years’ experience in equine insurance.
Neil Robertson, chief underwriting officer for global speciality at XL Insurance, said: “The appointment of Guy and his team further strengthens our capabilities and commitment to bloodstock insurance.
“The team has a wealth of global equine underwriting and claims handling expertise, particularly in the London market.”
XL Insurance will take over the portfolio of bloodstock businesses formerly serviced by Unicorn. The equine team will be based in London and Kentucky in the US.
The team offers a comprehensive bloodstock service, including mortality, theft, specialised perils, barrenness and prospective foals, stallion availability, infertility and loss of income.
