Urgent appeal for foal
13 May 2002
A broodmare which lost her foal yesterday has been made available as a foster mother
A 13.2hh New Forest mare, which lost her foal shortly after birth, is available to foster an orphaned foal.
The four-year-old mare, who was bred on the forest, has a good temperament, according to owner Christine Gapp.
“Hazel was due to foal around a month ago,” said Christine. “I have been staying in the caravan sinceshe was due, but I had to see to an injured cow and during the half-an-hour I was away she foaled.
“Unfortunately, when I returned what appeared to be a healthy foal was dead in the sack.”
Christine is hopeful that her loss could beof benefit to another breeder, and is offering her mare as a foster mother, although she would prefer her to stay at her yard near Dorset.
