Paralympian Lee Pearson embraces his need for speed

  • In the dressage arena, his powers of precision and control are legendary. But it seems that Lee Pearson is suffering from insufficient horsepower.

The para dressage star — who is riding again after breaking his back (news, 16 June) — is looking to get his motorsport racing licence.

Not content with the Range Rover Sport and 800cc quad bike with a top speed of 70mph on his yard, Lee has his eye on a Porsche.

“But my family and friends have banned me from buying a racing car,” he told H&H, “because we’re about to move into our new farm.”

Lee — who acquired his first car, an Austin Allegro, aged 12 — got his motorsport licence earlier this year.

“I’ve got to do four speed events, an exam and a medical before I can upgrade to a race licence,” he explained.
