Newborn coloured filly foal stolen from her mother’s side

  • A one-day-old foal has been stolen from its mother’s side in a field near Stourport, Worcestershire.

Police are appealing for information after the newborn filly was lifted out of a secure field last week. The filly is a piebald — mostly white with black patches on its head and flank. She is a cob type, standing approximately 10hh.

The filly’s owner, Sylvia Southall, has put up posters and done local paper and radio appeals.

She said: “This area is well used by dog walkers and children going to and fro — we’re disappointed that no one has come forward.

“We’re beginning to think that someone watched the mother while she was pregnant and stole the foal to order. It seems to have been premeditated.”

She also said she has been contacted by one man who had taken photos of the foal on his mobile phone the morning before it was stolen.

Anyone with information should contact Kidderminster Police on tel: 08457 444888 or Crimestoppers tel: 0800 555111.
