Britain will be represented at next winter’s endurance World Championship in the UAE after getting the green light from Endurance GB’s new management team.
Following the team’s disappointing performance at the European Championships in Punchestown and plans for an overhaul of management, selection and training of top riders, there had been calls to abandon a bid for the world title.
However Maggie Maguire, EGB’s international chairman, announced on Sunday that a team would go to Dubai after significant progress in building the new-look squad, and the new team of vets and chefs d’equipes has signalled its support.
Britain’s appearance is still subject to availability of suitable horse and rider combinations, satisfactory team management and adequate funding.
“We want to look forward and be confident and our vets and chefs feel that we should certainly do our best to get there,” she says.
