City firms to do battle on the polo field

  • Polo players from 25 big-name city firms will go head-to-head on Saturday (8 September) in the Maybach Pro-Am City Polo Championships at Ascot Park.

Amateur players will team up with professional stars in teams put forward by firms including Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, Norton Rose and Citigroup.

The Pro-Am City Championships is an annual event, which normally draws crowds of up to 1,000 spectators. This year the event is raising money for children’s charity SPARKS.

As well as a whole day of fast action on the polo fields, there will be a funfair, trade stands, shopping village and complimentary “have a go at polo” sessions.

Gates open at 10am, and polo will be played throughout the day. A 12-15 goal exhibition match “The Battle of the Titans” will be played at 2.30pm. Car passes cost £15 and can be bought on the gate.
