A 2nd horse has been killed this week after straying onto a main road.
Police closed the busy A414 Hertford to Hatfield road (not pictured above) on Tuesday (10 December) at 5.55am for more than 3 hours after 3 horses escaped onto the road.
1 of the horses was hit by a car and died at the scene; another received cuts to its legs.
The driver of the car that collided with the horse was taken to hospital but was not seriously injured. The car, a Silver Honda Civic was badly damaged.
Police are trying to trace the owners of the horses.
This is the 2nd time a horse has died after straying on to the roads this week. The previous day (Monday 9 December), a horse had to be shot by a police officer after it strayed onto a B road near Wisbech in Cambridgeshire and was hit by a car.
