Increased prize money for Burghley winners

  • The winners of the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials will benefit from a boost in prize money at this year’s event (5-8 September).

For the second year running the prize pot of the event has been increased, with a significant rise for those who finish in the top three.

As well as receiving the Land Rover Perpetual Challenge Trophy, the winning owner will be presented with a cheque for £60,000 — a £5,000 increase on last year.

The monetary prizes for second and third place have also risen — to £42,000 for second and to £32,000 for third, an increase of 20% in two years.

A further £15,000 prize fund, will, as last year, be shared between the top five riders.

“We are delighted that we have been able to increase our prize fund,” said Burghley Horse Trials director Elizabeth Inman.

“Rather than spread the increase thinly all the way down the line it was agreed that the lions share should be allocated to the top three prize winners in recognition of their outstanding achievement.”
