Volunteers needed to help at Badminton Horse Trials

  • Alzheimer’s Research UK, charity of the year for Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, needs 200 volunteers to help with fundraising at this year’s event (2-6 May).

Each year, Badminton nominates a charity that can use the event as a platform for raising awareness and funds.

Volunteers will be tasked with selling raffle tickets and charity merchandise. And in return for spending a day or more helping Alzheimer’s Research UK, volunteers will be given time to watch some action at the event.

Parminder Summon, the organisation’s community fundraising manager, said that it is a “great way [for volunteers] to enjoy the competitive action while raising much needed funds for our pioneering research into Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia”.

Around 820,000 people in the UK live with dementia.

The organisation supports dementia research projects worth more than £20 million in universities across the country.

Parminder added: “Investment into research still lags far behind other serious diseases and we rely entirely on our enthusiastic supporters to fund our crucial research.”
