Top eventers head for Kentucky

  • William Fox-Pitt, Leslie Law and Ian Stark head British hopes at the Rolex Kentucky CCI****

Britain is sending four riders to the Rolex Kentucky CCI**** on 25-28 April.

William Fox-Pitt (Springleaze Macaroo and Stunning) and Leslie Law (Shear L’Eau) have received Lottery funding to fly to the US, while Claire Phillips (Capuchin) and Ian Stark [pictured right] (Jaybee and Saucy Brown) are funding their own journeys.

Ian Stark, a regular at Kentucky, has consistently been Britain’s most successful rider at the event. One of his rides, Saucy Brown, was fourth at Kentucky in 1998.

Overseas entries include Australia’s Olivia Bunn (GV Braveheart) and Eddy Stibbe (Autumn Breeze lll), plus USA-based Phillip Dutton (Hannigan/Caymen Went).

The US has a strong field of home contenders including Bruce Davidson (High Scope, Apparition and Little Tricky) and his son Buck (Class Touch, Mystic Mike and Twist And Shout).

Others include Beale Morris (Pathfinder), Blenheim winner Kimberly Vinoski (Winsome Adante), Nina Fout (3 Magic Beans) and David and Karen O’Connor, who have seven entries between them, including the Olympic champion Custom Made and the former Mark Todd ride Regal Scot.
