Germany wins Junior Dressage Europeans


  • The Junior European Championships held at Iserlohn, Germany, has been won by the host nation.

    It was a close finish in the team event with Germany finishing in gold-medal position on a total score of 3737, with Holland taking the silver (3667) and Austria, the bronze (3591).

    Germany also took the gold and silver medals in the junior individual competition with Lena-Alexandra Torioxten and Rio’s Chalston finishing on a good score of 72.59%, ahead of fellow team mate Juliane Brunkhorst and La Boom (71.51%) in silver position. Holland’s Dominique Fillion and Goubergh’s Montreal finished close behind (70.92%) to take the bronze.

    The British junior team – Laura Bechtosheimer andKardinale, Polly Hodges and Enfant, Lizzie Bell and Lavett and Maria Eilberg and Don Perry – finished in fifth place (3540).Last year’s junior team reserve 17-year-old Lizzie Bell and Lavett, an 11 year-old Oldenberg gelding, were best of the British team in the individual competition, finishing seventh on 68.27%.

    Maria Eilberg, a member of both silver medal pony teams last year, won the Junior Consolation Test with the German-bred stallion Don Perry (68.60%) ahead of Polly Hodges and Vicky Thompson’s former Olympic ride, Enfant (68.53%). Laura Bechtolsheimer and the German-bred 10 year old mare Kardinale, who were making their international debut, finished in seventh place (64.27%).
