Rural Riders European Championship 2001

  • Hartpury College in Gloucestershire is the venue for the Rural Riders European Championship. Hartpury has a CCI** course and hosted this year’s European Young Rider Championship.

The RREC is a special format three-day event for national riding club-based teams. Already intending to take part are Sweden, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland and Great Britain. Organisers are hopeful that France, Ireland, Hungary and Russia may also send teams.

This event is unique in thatit has individual dressage, cross-country and show jumping phases and starts with a team dressage phase in which all six members of the team ride a specially written test at the same time.

The event takes place on 5-8 July 2001 and selection trials for the British team are being arranged for the early part of 2001.

Olympic course-builder Mike Etherington-Smith has agreed to be course-designer for the event.
