Joy Wood qualified her grey cob gelding, Corrigan, for HOYS at Wellington. As a late October foal, although technically a 5-year-old, Corrigan will still be only 4 when he makes his HOYS debut.
“The judges are marvellous — charming, helpful and full of encouragement,” said Joy’s supporter Mark Grinter.
Joy was ecstatic to have won. “I am probably the oldest rider here, on one of the youngest horses and I really can’t believe it. It is fantastic and nothing will ever beat it. I am really proud of what we have achieved!”
Graceful Ease, owned by Melanie Cargin and ridden by Rosalind Arthur collected the other HOYS ticket.
