Helen Troughton from Ballinteggart Stud, Portadown, chairman of the Northern Ireland Horse Board has been appointed to the board of the Irish Horse Board.
She was one of the nominees by Mary Coughlan TD Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
Mrs Troughton, who breeds sport horses, owns the sires Coronea Eagle, Present Arms and the late Supreme Edge, as well as a number of Connemara sires.
She said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for the two boards to further their already close working relationship.”
