Lordship’s Stud at Writtle College in Essex, is celebrating the birth of its first foal since the stud was extensively refurbished and opened on a new site.

The colt foal is out of a Demonstrator mare and by the silver dressage medallist Silvano N.

The stud was set up to give students an insight into sport horse breeding as well as practical hands-on experience of studwork.

Stud manager Tim Whitaker said: “Our students are the future of British sport horse breeding and we hope to provide them with theory and practical knowledge they will need.”

The stud is now awaiting the births of more foals by the German stallions Rubioso N and Averner N.
