A teenager has died in Ireland after falling from a horse while on a hunt ride.

Seventeen-year-old Patricia Lynch from Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co Clare, died in the early hours of Tuesday morning (30 November).

Patricia reportedly fell from her horse while jumping a low wall.

She was taking part in a Turkey Trotters hunt in Crusheen on Sunday (28 November) when she fell.

She was wearing a helmet and body protector.

Patricia was taken to University Hospital Galway but died from her injuries in the early hours of Tuesday (30 November) morning

“It is a very sad thing. She was out doing what she loved and that is what happened. She loved taking part in the hunt,” a family friend told local press.

The Turkey Trotters meet each Sunday for cross-country rides that do not involve hounds.
