International eventer, Matt Ryan, is to open an extended arena at the Berkshire College of Agriculture later this month

Olympic eventer, Matt Ryan, will be officially opening an extended arena at the Berkshire College of Agriculture on 13 October.

The Australian gold-medallist will also be giving flatwork and jumping clinics in the afternoon, followed by a lecture demonstration in the evening.

The new arena at the college now measures 60m by 40m and can be split into three.

“We are responding to the demand, ” said spokeswoman, Sarah Ferrige. “We have many different groups in the community using the facility – dogs groups, rugby teams, carriage drivers, as well as the 100 equestrian students we have on our courses.”

The college, near Maidenhead in Berkshire, specialises in equine science and equestrian management courses from the age of 16 through to degree level.

Tickets for the arena opening are £8 inadvance, £10 on the door and £25 for a session at the clinic.
