Young riders claim Foxhunter tickets at Wales and the West

  • Young riders Gemma Plumley, riding the inexperienced Tyfoon, and Joe Clayton with Saveur claimed the Horse & Hound Foxhunter tickets at Wales and the West. Narrowly missing out in third was Simon Crippen on Longmeads Minao.

Ali Foxley took the newcomers second round on Amelie ahead of Joe and Saveur, who had already qualified for the Festival. The remaining tickets went to Louise Saywell with Cyprianus Z, Danny Dunne on Wylye Cruise, Michael Eilberg on Baccarat Z and Charlotte Flack with UFO III.

Lee Williams dominated the open classes. He headed a strong jump-off to take the £500-to-the-winner 1.40m grand prix on former Foxhunter finalist Little Emir and claimed a 1.35m class with Mark Samuels’s Linaro 18.

Brett Gardner, 17, clinched the final day’s 1.35m class on Lola Wade’s Horia Du Neretz.
