The Burghley Masterfoods Horse Trials at Stamford, Lincs, (4-7 September) is inviting some of Britain’s leading show jumpers to take part in an invitation-only accumulator class worth £20,000.
The class will be the first major show jumping competition to be held at Burghley for 22 years and will take place in the main arena on Sunday, 7 September.
John and Michael Whitaker, Robert Smith, Tim Stockdale, Di Lampard, Vicky Young, Lynne van Heyningen, John Popely, Paul Barker, Nick Skelton, Scott Smith, Andrew Davies, Mark Armstrong and Will Funnell have accepted invitations to take part in the new competition, which is part of an extended Sunday programme at Burghley.
The three-day event show jumping will finish at around1pm on the Sunday and for the first time will be followed by further classes and displays. Other attractions include four-in-hand obstacle driving and celebrity gymkhana games.
