Top juniors will battle at Hickstead

  • Britain’s top junior showjumpers will compete for what may be the richest pony prize fund in Europe at this year’s British Jumping Derby Meeting (August 14-17) at the All England Jumping Course, Hickstead.

Supported by a number of private benefactors, the Hickstead PonyMasters will have a total prize fund of £7,500. The winner will walk away with £2,500, with further cash rewards down to 10th place.

“This will be a tremendous competition for junior riders, and entirely in keeping with the great traditions of Hickstead and the International Arena,” says Hickstead owner Douglas Bunn. “These young people will get a real taste of the atmosphere and occasion on Derby day.”

The new competition is open to registered JA ponies ridden by junior or junior associate BSJA members with each rider limited to two ponies.

Competition will start with two qualifying rounds on Wednesday and Thursday, from which 20 competitors will go forward to the third leg in Hickstead’s world famous International Arena on Saturday.

The final round will see the leading 10 riders do battle in the International Arena on Sunday, the same day as the acclaimed British Jumping Derby.
