Three members of Britain’s European show jumping squad will be in action in front of their home fans in the only British leg of the Samsung Super League series of Nations’ Cup events at Hickstead.
Nick Skelton, Ellen Whitaker and European reserve rider John Whitaker will join Robert Whitaker and Mark Armstrong as Britain aims to repeat last year’s triumph at the Royal International Horse Show (28-31 July).
Supported by team manager Derek Ricketts, the squad look on form to produce another impressive performance, which would improve their current fourth place in the league standings.
Action from this year’s Longines Royal International Horse Show, including the Samsung Super League competition, will be shown exclusively live on Sky Sports as part of a new three-year TV deal. Alex Hammond will present this year’s programme, with reports from Suzanne Dando.
Hickstead Royal International Horse Show secretary and director, Lizzie Bunn said; “Having the Sky Sports cameras at Hickstead will get show jumping into more homes and massively increase our exposure. It will be the first time that we will have live coverage for four days of the show, and the fact it is a three year contract will make Hickstead immensely more attractive to potential sponsors.”
