PC members end season on a high

  • Pony Club members end the year on a high at the Dengie Winter League show jumping championships

Young show jumpers travelled from the furthest corners of the UK to compete for the pony club’s prestigious Dengie Winter League title at Warwickshire College, Moreton Morrell. The final had been delayed from earlier this year due to FMD.

Seventeen-year-old Michelle Greaves made the l2-hour journey from Edinburgh worthwhile when she claimed the title with Magic Moments from 75 other young riders. A real all-round rider from the Edinburgh Branch, Michelle has also been on the Scottish Mounted Games Team and won the Scottish Schools Open Championships this year.

Second placed Samantha MacGennis (13) was second, having jumped clear in the jump off, finishing 35secs behind the winner. She was riding Baydal, her birthday present from last year, for the Oxenholme branch.

Kerry Grimster (15) and E.J’s Flanagan were third, just 4secs behind. Owned by Sandra Parnell, whose daughter has outgrown him, Kerry described Flanagan as a pony who “always tries his heart out”. She has been a member of the Garth Hunt Branch since she was five.
