Two more contenders came to the fore in the Horse & Hound Foxhunter semi-final at Bicton, where Emily Davies (Granita II) and Andrew James (Libero Rafael) claimed the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) tickets.
Just seven of the 29 starters found the right answers to Phil Ashworth’s course for a place in round two.
A faultless round from Andrew James and Libero Rafael opened proceedings, but then clear rounds proved hard to come by. Gemma Paternoster (Hartley Manor Valentine), John Renwick (Baloubet Nice And Easy) and Anna Edwards (Unique) had one mistake apiece to capture their Festival tickets. Emily Davies, 18, and Granita II then produced a foot-perfect performance from final draw to claim the other HOYS place.
