Waterford crowned Hickstead Supreme Cob


  • Waterford, a 15.1hh grey cob gelding was crowned Supreme Cob Champion at the British Jumping Derby Meeting at Hickstead this afternoon.

    The judges initially pulled forward Sonny Jim, owned by Carol Bardo and ridden by Jayne Webber. But when the striking looking lightweight cob refused to stand still, Waterford was hailed Supreme Champion.

    The grey cob, owned by Elizabeth Bury, was second in the All England Heavyweight Cob class this morning.

    “He is unbeaten this year,” explained Stephen Norris who rides him, “he has an excellent temperament and hunts with the Cotswold all winter – he is a Rolls Royce ride.” Ms Bury bought him unbroken from Lynn Russell.

    The Reserve Cob Champion accolade was presented to His Nibs II, ridden by Katie Jerram.
