Side-saddle celebration for RIHS centenary

  • To celebrate the centenary of Longines Royal International Horse Show (RIHS), there is a special prize on offer to competitors in this year’s Equine America Side-Saddle Concours d’Elegance class.

In addition to the usual awards, a plaque will be presented to the competitor sporting the best 1907-style outfit — in a final judged in the International Arena.

The class is open to children and adults, all in period costume. Judges award 60% of the marks for presentation of the horse and rider, and 40% for the suitability of horse or pony to carry side-saddle, and its general way of going.

The class will take place on the Saturday of the show (25-29 July). For tickets (tel: 0871 919 3583) or visit www.hickstead.co.uk
