The Royal International Horse Show (25-29 July) will this year have a new young horse championship, thanks to sponsorship from Surrey restaurant Old Lodge.
The Old Lodge Young Breeding Horse Championship for mares and stallions will have one qualifying class and a final in Hickstead’s International Arena, with a £500 jackpot.
Old Lodge is also raising prize-money in four 1.30m show jumping classes — from £100 to £330 to the winner — and in three 1.40m opens — from £100 to £400 to the winner.
