  • Britain’s greatest Olympian, Sir Steve Redgrave, is backing Kauto Star for a fifth win in the William Hill King George VI chase at Kempton Park on Monday.

The rower, who won five gold medals at five consecutive Olympics, is confident the Paul Nicholls-trained racing sensation will pull the same feat out of the bag.

“I know the effort required to win a sporting title five times in a row. It requires dedication, determination and a never-say-die spirit,” said Sir Steve.

“What Kauto Star has achieved so far at Kempton is fantastic.”

The £200,000 King George VI Chase has been postponed from Sunday 26 December due to a frozen track.
