  • Leading figures in the horse racing world are backing the online charity auction site Buy Dad a Day for Father’s Day, in an effort to raise money for and awareness of prostate and testicular cancers.

Unique gifts have been donated for people to bid for with Father’s Day in mind.

Derek Thompson, Channel 4 racing commentator, is giving the opportunity for one father to join him for a day at the races. Two badges to a race meeting will be given, along with a visit to the commentary box to watch a race with him.

Another lot on offer is a day at Newmarket. This includes a behind-the-scenes tour of Clarehaven Stables with trainer John Gosden, lunch at the Jockey Club rooms, a stallion show at Dalham Hall Stud and an evening tea at Warren Place with legendary trainer Henry Cecil.

Other lots include two bronze weekend tickets to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, a play day at Wimbledon with ex-Great Britain Davis Cup player, Nick Brown and a chance to watch Reading FC play from the Directors’ Box.

The auction closes at 5pm on Wednesday 17 June.

All money raised from the online auction will help in funding the research and treatment of male diseases like prostate and testicular cancer.
