National hunt season begins at Kempton

  • Racing meets pop at Kempton Park’s first national hunt meeting

    Racegoers attending Kempton Park’s first national hunt race meeting of the 2001/2002 season (27/28 October) – the Charisma Gold Cup Day – will be able to mingle with stars from the pop world and the first 100 people through the gates will receive a Now 47 CD.

    Previous pop stars who have attended this event, include the Spice Girls, Genesis and Meatloaf. Julian Thick, general nanager of Kempton Park, said: “We are looking forward to the start of the new national hunt season. Our Charisma Gold Cup Day is always a competitive meeting with the celebrity angle adding plenty of excitement.”

    The highlight of the six race card is the Charisma Gold Cup, the first major national hunt race of the season. This year, the race has a 10% increase in prize money and the total prize money for the day amounts to £30,000. The 2001/2002 NH season at Kempton Park has a record amount of more than £1 million on offer.

    The first race gets underway at 2.20pm. Ticket prices start at £6 for the Silver Ring, £13 for the Grandstand and £17 for the Premier enclosure. Tickets can be booked in advance. For more details contact (tel: 01372 470047).
