  • Kieren Fallon will sensationally miss the Vodafone Derby after being suspended for three days at Ayr on Thursday.

Fallon was expected to be on board the favourite, the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Golan at Epsom on Saturday week, in preference to the colt’s stable companion Dilshaan.

Johnny Murtagh, who has been on standby to ride one of the Stoute horses, is now in pole-position and will probably partner Golan, the impressive 2,000 Guineas winner.

Pat Eddery and Frankie Dettori are among the favourites to be snapped up for Dilshaan, the Dante Stakes winner.

Fallon was banned from June 9-11 for minor irresponsible riding on Distinctive Dream in Ayr’s RS Design Handicap.

The Ayr stewards confirmed that the suspension cannot be delayed as it is for more than two days.
