  • Former Grand National winner Numbersixvalverde has been retired from racing because of an ongoing leg injury.

The Martin Brassil-trained 13-year-old’s biggest win was in the 2006 Grand National, under Niall Madden. He also won the Irish Grand National, in 2005, ridden by Ruby Walsh.

Named after owner Bernard Carroll’s villa in Portugal the horse was ruled out of the 07-08 season due to injury and has not run since the 2007 race in which he came sixth to winner Silver Birch.
