  • A fundraising ball for national hunt trainer Robert Alner is being held at Cheltenham Racecourse after racing on Saturday, 26 January. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Robert and Frenchay Hospital where he is being treated.

Robert was seriously injured in a car accident in November last year and was airlifted to Frenchay hospital in Bristol where he remains in intensive care.

Trainer of the 1998 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Cool Dawn, Robert is making progress slowly and it is hoped that he will soon be moved to Salisbury’s Odstock Hospital to be nearer home.

The evening includes a complimentary drinks reception followed by a four-course dinner and dancing until 2am with tickets costing £42. A pair of breeches signed by jump jockeys will also be auctioned off during the evening.
