  • Chicken pox has prevented Frankie Dettori from riding Sakhee at Deauville this weekend

Frankie Dettori’s chicken pox has ruled him out of the ride on world champion racehorse Sakhee at Deauville on Saturday (10 August).

Richard Hills, who finished second on Sakhee in Sinndar’s 2000 Derby, takes over from Dettori, who has caught chicken pox from his children.

Dettori had been hoping to be fit for Sakhee’s reappearance in the Prix Gontaut-Biron. But Simon Crisford, racing manager to Godolphin owners of Sakhee, said: “I talked to Frankie on Wednesday morning and unfortunately he is not going to make it to Deauville on Saturday.

“The horseis sitting right on top of a race and he has to run to maintain his mental focus and physical fitness. The big plan is the Irish Champion Stakes and to take on the Derby winner High Chaparral.”
