Farewell to former jockey Jessica Charles-Jones

  • Former National Hunt jockey Jessica Charles-Jones died from a heart attack on 8 September aged 45.

Jessica started competing in hunter trials as a child and began her point-to-point career aged 15.

She rode mainly for her father, George Turner, but latterly for trainer Rod Simpson and rode 14 winners before the career-ending fall in 1988 at Southwell at the age of 23, which left her confined to a wheelchair.
