Dubai Millennnium in colic scare

  • Dubai Millennium, world champion racehorse of last year, is recovering from an operation following an attack of colic.

    The horse became ill at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket last week and underwent surgery to relieve a blockage of the small intestine.

    Liam O’Rourke, stud director at Dalham Hall, said: “The operation lasted 1 3/4 hours and Dubai Millennium was back on his feet by 9am on Tuesday . He had a comfortable nightand was looking fine again on Wednesday.”

    Dubai Millennium romped away with the Dubai World Cup 12 months ago andfollowed up with a breathtaking victory at Royal Ascot in June before a serious leg injury forced him into early retirement. He iscurrently among the most prized stallions in the world.
