  • The new three-day event boots from Clarendon, manufacturers of the massively popular fleece-lined competition boots, have been designed with top class eventing in mind.

The new boot, which has been developed in association with up-and-coming event rider Francis Whittington, who was third in last weekend’s Eventing Grand Prix at Hickstead’s RIHS, is similar in style to the company’s classic competition/event boot, but with extra padding and a neoprene lining.

Jim Mitchell, managing director of Clarendon Equestrian, told HHO: “Thenew event boot is ideal for competitions which include large water complexes.

“The only downside of the traditional Clarendon event boot was that the fleece lining absorbed water, making the boots heavy for the rest of the cross-country round. The new boots offer all the normal benefits of Clarendon boots without any water retention.”

The boots feature 17mm of padding between the tough synthetic outer and the 3mm neoprene lining, with the front boots featuring a flexible anti-stab protective strip to protect the tendons. Both front and hind styles include the classic Clarendon elasticated strap and stainless steel hook fastenings.

The boots are only available in black, in pony, horse and large sizes, although the company does offer a made to measure service for horses, which don’t fit the standard designs.

Cost at around £65 for front boots and £69 for hind boots.
