Wales favourite for world title
Britain’s mounted games teams are preparing to do battle with teams from around the world at the World Mounted Games Team Championships, which will take place at Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, United States from 25-27 July.
Teams from 14 countries will to come together for the three-day mounted games extravaganza. The USA and Canada will be using their own ponies, while all overseas teams will ride borrowed ponies. The British teams will meet their new equine partners and begin training on Tuesday 22 July.
The Welsh team, which includes Alex and Christian Jones, Jo Dale, Julian (Boo) Price and farrier Huw Whitney, are the reigning world champions and are expected to retain the title. They were reserve in 2001 in Canada on borrowed ponies andare travelling with their trainer, Clive Jones.
The England team includes the reigning World Individual Champion Choc Adcock and former World Pairs Champion Ross Elliot, as well as successful international games specialists Richard Pringuer,Vicky Thomas and Elaine Trevor Jones.
Lisa Burns, Callum Evans, Leanne Quinn, Jenny Riva and Leanne Skelly represent Scotland. Travelling reserve is Kelly Quinn and the chef d’equipe and team manager is team trainer Jacky Skelly.
