The horsebox was being driven along Brownsbarn bridge over the River Nore, between Inistioge and Thomastown on Friday (5 June) at about 10.30am when it fell.

One horse died on impact when the cab of the vehicle landed on the section containing the horses. Another was put down at the scene.

    Three foals escaped unhurt.

The driver, a middle-aged man, and a female passenger were taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny with minor injuries.
